A peak under the umbrella

There are two things running through meg’s veins …

A desire for connection and a devotion to service, one that is rooted deep on the central coast.

It’s these qualities that became the soil that would grow into the Farmer & the Flea.

The name Megan Husbands written in script followed by the words "make it majestic"

I’m Meg — a seasoned massage therapist, previously a skin therapist, AND a dedicated dog therapist (or is it vice versa?) . After growing up in Goleta and spending several years in Santa Barbara I nestled into the eclectic beach town of Summerland for nearly 10 years , where I felt the extreme pull towards building communitY.

My desire for greater community was bolstered during the heartbreaking disasters of 2018—when residents were cut off for many weeks, and unable to get to their jobs, the grocery store or connect with others and neighbors had to rely on neighbors. The way people supported one another was beautiful. It was in those moments that I was reminded of the power of community and the ripple effect it can have for many years to come.

With support from my friends and family, I pitched the concept of a combined monthly farmers and flea market at a local Summerland Citizens meeting. Neighboring business owners joined in on the collective vision of bringing the funk back to Summerland and my sister was an integral force in visually shaping F&F.

From its humble grassroots beginnings in Summerland, Farmer & the Flea now hosts over sixty five vendors in downtown Santa Barbara for members of the community to shop local, share their passions & purpose while connecting with other humans & dogs under the sunshine.

\What’s better than that?!
